IDscan passport scanner is an easy-to-use, fully integrable data collection system that collects textual information from Passports, National ID card, Travel documents, Driving License, Health insurance cards, Business cards and other documents, regardless of the document's background colours or font shape and size. IDscan passport scanner performs advanced image processing and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to provide the user with high quality digital images of the scanned document and the entire relevant textual information in such formats that allows easy integration with every database management system and user application.
IDscan Passport Scanner consists of a unique Hardware device that was especially designed to provide small footprint, durability and high quality images. Within seconds USB passport scanner grabs an image of the travel document and store full page image and face photo image to a pre-defined folder or database. The document image is then being analyzes by our unique powerful image processing algorithm, which extracts the textual information, identify the text and store it into proper fields of your database.
Being the most cost effective passport scanner, IDscan system increases business productivity and reduces human typing errors through the process of collecting and archiving occasional visitors' information. The option of a bus powered USB passport scanner allows maximum efficiency at minimum desk space consumption.
In addition to its unique capability to collect textual information from wide range of national ID cards, passports and other travel documents, IDscan Passport Scanner is also capable of reading information of printed linear and 2D barcodes as well as digital information from magnetic cards using Magnetic Strip Reader .
IDScan passport scanner incorporates the latest Optical Characters Recognition (OCR) technology together with smart algorithms that automatically identifies the scanned document, locates the required text and images and after careful verification and error correction stores the text to an ASCII file or directly to your database.
IDscan passport scanner allows seamless integration with any database application through a Passport Scanner SDK (Software Developers Kit).

IDscan passport scanner main features
Ultra compact - small passport scanner (pass-through or flatbed), with optical scanning resolution of up to 600dpi.
Maximum accuracy - advanced image processing and pre-define templates allows text extraction at up to 99.9% accuracy.
Auto rotation – the system detects the document's orientation and rotate accordingly.
Auto detect – automatically detects the type of card or passport by comparing the scanned image to a database of known templates for maximum detection accuracy.
Color filtering – the only OCR passport scanner system that read printed text regardless of the document’s background colours and other graphic obstacles.
Networking accessibility - instantly transferring text information over IP network or FTP.
2D Barcode reader – read data from PDF417 2D barcode.
Store images – keep face photo, full card image and signature image (from ID cards) in separate files with the unique file name based on the extracted data (i.e. visitor name)
Flexible integration – the textual information is kept in an ASCII (.TXT) file, or in the SDK properties in a specific order for instant storing into any database.
Kiosk mode – scanning sensor or buttons in the Hardware devices allow the software to run with minimal graphic interface.
Auto online updater – get new versions and new templates automatically from our server.
Duplex card reader – attach both side of the card to one image.
Auto print – set an automatic printing task of both image and text to a local or remote printer.

The following spec. represents the minimum recommended spec. for smooth operation of IDscan/SDK system:
- MS Windows 2000, XP, Vista
- Pentium 2.0GHz or equivalent
- 256MB of DRAM
- 60MB free disk space (more for keeping scanned images)
- USB port
- CD-ROM drive
- SVGA monitor with true color and at least 1024x768 pixels
Use our Software is subject but not limited to the following terms:
- Any software that is made available for download or use from the website ("Software") is the copyrighted work of Card Scanning Solutions and/or third parties. For some Software, a separate license agreement specifically applicable to the download or use of that Software will be presented for acceptance prior to download or use, and the user will be unable to install or use such Software unless he or she first accepts the terms of the applicable license agreement.
- The Software is provided AS-IS and Card Scanning Solutions hereby disclaims all warranties and conditions with regard to the software, including all warranties and conditions of merchantability, whether express, implied or statutory, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
- Unless otherwise stated in the specific Software license agreement all software are made to be installed and to be used on a single PC and Card Scanning Solutions's provided Hardware is to be connected to the PC for the entire period of use.
- For some Software a trial version is available for a limited period and/or limited use according to specific Software license agreement.
In order to benefit from the maximum capabilities, accuracy and comfort of IDscan system we strongly recommend to use it with one the wide variety of dedicated scanners and camera devices offered by us, however IDscan is now being offered for using with MOST STANDARD TWAIN SCANNERS and could be purchased as Software-Only. To successfully run the Software both a unique licence number and a USB protection dongle should be obtained and connect to the PC station.
Note: The accuracy and performance of IDscan system is highly depending on the scanned image quality and properties, consequently using a non-dedicated scanning device might reduce the accuracy.
