IDscan is an easy-to-use, fully integrable data collection OCR card scanner allows to collect textual information from Driving Licenses, national ID cards, Business cards, EHIC health cards and other documents, regardless of its background colours or font shape. IDscan performs advanced image processing and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology that provide the user with both high quality digital images of the scanned card as well as the entire relevant textual information in such a format that allows easy integration with every database management system and user application.
IDscan's card scanner consists of unique Hardware that has been especially designed to automatically detect when an ID card is being inserted to the dedicated card scanner device. Within seconds the ID card is being scanned and analyzed by the powerful image processing engine which extracts the textual information and store it into the proper fields of the database in addition to three useful image files of your choice:
- Full ID image.
- Face image
- Signature image.
Being such a cost effective id card scanner system, IDscan increases productivity and reduces human typing errors through the process of collecting and archiving occasional visitors' information. The bus powered USB device is powerful yet simple to use and in conjunction with its versatility, makes ID Scan's benefits numerous and immediate.
In addition to its unique ability to collect text information from printed ID cards and documents, ID Scan is also capable of reading digitizing data from magnetic strips as well as linear and 2D barcodes.
IDscan card scanner software incorporates the latest Optical Characters Recognition technology as well as Image Processing and Field Identification for ID card verification and driver license check. After the OCR engine extracts the textual data, IDscan applies its intelligent detection engine to fix text errors and to store the information into the appropriate fields of the database such as: card number, Name, Address, Issue Date, Expiration Date, Date of Birth and so on.

The following spec. represents the minimum recommended spec. for smooth operation of IDscan card scanner / SDK system:
- MS Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7 (32/64 bit)

- 60MB free disk space (more for keeping scanned images)
- USB port
- CD-ROM drive
- SVGA monitor with true color and at least 1024x768 pixels
Use our Software is subject but not limited to the following terms:
- Any software that is made available for download or use from the website ("Software") is the copyrighted work of Card Scanning Solutions and/or third parties. For some Software, a separate license agreement specifically applicable to the download or use of that Software will be presented for acceptance prior to download or use, and the user will be unable to install or use such Software unless he or she first accepts the terms of the applicable license agreement.
- The Software is provided AS-IS and Card Scanning Solutions hereby disclaims all warranties and conditions with regard to the software, including all warranties and conditions of merchantability, whether express, implied or statutory, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
- Unless otherwise stated in the specific Software license agreement all software are made to be installed and to be used on a single PC and Card Scanning Solutions's provided Hardware is to be connected to the PC for the entire period of use.
- For some Software a trial version is available for a limited period and/or limited use according to specific Software license agreement.
In order to benefit from the maximum capabilities, accuracy and comfort of IDscan system we strongly recommend to use it with one the wide variety of dedicated scanners and camera devices offered by us, however IDscan is now being offered for using with MOST STANDARD TWAIN SCANNERS and could be purchased as Software-Only. To successfully run the Software both a unique license number and a USB protection dongle should be obtained and connect to the PC station.
Note: The accuracy and performance of IDscan system is highly depending on the scanned image quality and properties, consequently using a non-dedicated scanning device might reduce the accuracy.

ScanShell 800NR card scanner works with any standard USB 1.1/2.0 port without the need for external power adapter.
